Henderson Fire Responds to a 2-Alarm Apartment Fire

Henderson, Nev. – The Henderson Fire Department received a call for an apartment on fire at 5:35 AM at 2312 N. Green Valley Parkway, the Crossings Apartments.   The Crossings Apartments are located in the area of Green Valley Parkway and Warm Springs. The first fire department unit arrived on scene in approximately 5 minutes to find heavy fire showing from the bottom apartment, patio area extending to the above apartment patio area. Due to the extending fire, a request for a second alarm was put in for units to respond from Clark Co. Fire Dept.

The occupant of the apartment and his daughter had just returned home from buying breakfast when they found their apartment a blaze. Fire crews quickly extinguished the exterior fire and followed it up with an interior attack.   All 12 apartments in that building were evacuated as the fire was controlled. Property Management responded and opened the club house for residence to evacuate too. A total of 2 apartments were destroyed.

A total of approximately 60 fire fighters responded. A total of five engines, two truck companies, two paramedic rescues, and one chief officer from Henderson Fire responded along with second alarm units from Clark Co. Fire and a chief officer.   A fire investigator from Henderson Fire and investigators from Henderson Police responded to process the scene. Nevada Red Cross was called in to assist the father and daughter of the involved unit who were displaced. The Occupant of the other apartment was being relocated to another apartment at the Crossings by apartment management.    Nevada Energy and a City of Henderson Building Inspector assisted in securing the apartments.  All others were allowed to return to their apartments.

Total loss is estimated at $85,000. There were no injuries to civilians or fire fighters. Cause of the fire is still under investigation. For more information on this fire, please contact Tim Hartman at 303-9059.
