In 2015, the Henderson Professional Fire Fighters will work to maintain their exceptional customer service and satisfaction rates, as well as continue their commitment to community service through their charitable efforts and safety awareness campaigns.

Last year, the Henderson Professional Fire Fighters ran 26,226 calls for service, an increase of nearly 5% from the previous year. 19,591 of those calls were classified as EMS/Rescue Calls, an increase of over 3% from the previous year. The department is particularly proud of their EMS responses because their transport services have contributed in revenue back to the City of Henderson general fund, rather than having those calls answered by a private ambulance service.

The customer satisfaction rates resulting from these calls were some of the best to date, with 98% of customers responding that the personnel "exceeded their overall expectation of service" and 99% responding that the department "arrived promptly, presented themselves with professional conduct, and were compassionate and caring" in their rescue services.

The high ratings from Henderson residents extend beyond just professional service. In fact, nearly 95% of those surveyed also responded that the Henderson Professional Fire Fighters are "active in their community and foster trust." The members of the Henderson Professional Fire Fighters attribute this to their civic-service oriented initiatives and continuous grassroots outreach efforts.

Members of the Henderson Professional Fire Fighters have developed and successfully maintained two primary child safety outreach campaigns over the past four year, which are implemented during the spring and summer months: "Safe Pools Rule!" and "Check Your Seats in the Heat".

The "Safe Pools Rule!" Campaign focuses on drowning prevention and water safety, promoting the A, B, C, and D's Method of drowning prevention. The message is spread through a campaign launch, mock drowning presentations at local recreation centers, and through a mass "Walk and Knock" during which the fire fighters partner with Red Cross volunteers to distribute door hangers. This year, for the first time, the Henderson Professional Fire Fighters are looking forward to partnering with the Las Vegas Fire Fighters to further expand their messages of prevention.

The "Check Your Seats in the Heat" Campaign speaks to the importance of not leaving children in hot vehicles during the summer months, an issue particularly relevant in Southern Nevada due to extreme heat temperatures. They spread this message, in partnership with the Las Vegas Fire Fighters, through the campaign launch, a P.S.A. running during the summer months, and distribution of awareness ribbons to place inside cars or on key chains during which the fire fighters partner with all Kiwanis groups to distribute them in front of Smith's store locations.

This year, the Henderson Professional Fire Fighters are also looking forward to expanding their "Go Pink for the Cure" Campaign, during which they sell pink t-shirts with the department logo and campaign phrase. Shirts are sold to both fire fighters to wear on duty, as well as the public, with proceeds benefitting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
